These are particularly helpful for those families who are not so aware of the education system and how it works. You may have concerns over your child’s behaviour in school, you feel your child needs additional support in school but aren’t sure how to go about it or school has approached you with regards to your child and you want some independent advice/support regarding this matter.
The initial call is to help to identify what support you and your child/teen need in relation to their education journey. I can help you by: pointing you in the direction of who you need to speak to, questions you need to ask, I can give you ideas of ways in which your child can be supported in lessons so they are more able to engage with learning when they find it tricky.
From this call, we can identify whether it is a one-off support call or whether some further on-going support is required.

The knowledge and awareness around Special Educational Needs (SEN) is improving, however, the need for true understanding to support these individuals in school remains. I offer in-house training for teaching staff and non-teaching staff to increase their understanding of the different Special Educational Needs and how simple tweaks to lessons or strategies for these individuals can make the education journey more accessible to them.
This training would traditionally be delivered by SENCOs, however, with their ever increasing workloads to support these young people, it seems more beneficial for their time is best spent preparing their teams and ensuring the support is in place rather than losing time preparing presentations and resources to deliver training.
Knowing how challenging the transition between schools can be for some, Sarah published a Year 6 Transition Journal on Amazon. This little journal has all the essential tools to support a Year 6 student prepare for moving up to secondary school. These journals come highly recommended by both students and parents who have bought them.

She then went on to produce a Secondary Success Course which contains a series of videos and downloads with top tips and strategies to support those with neurodiverse brains cope with the demands of mainstream education. It is aimed at Year 7, however, these tips are beneficial to any secondary student (and some parents have also found them helpful strategies for work!)
